Established in 1979 in Seoul, Korea, the Jinwoong Company began as a tent manufacturer with innovative new designs, setting them apart from other manufacturers. Building upon continued innovation, Jinwoong continued to grow, establishing a sales and marketing office in California in 1986. Plants were established in Xiamen, China, in 1988, as the work force grew to over 2000 employees.
In 1999 Jinwoong officially change its name to NorthPole with the desire of being a recognized manufacturer of top quality outdoor items reaching to the top of the world. Product lines had expanded from a wide range of tents to now include sleeping bags and air mattresses, followed by seating products and other outdoor living furniture and accessories.
Today, NorthPole operates out of all new manufacturing facilities located in Xiamen, China, one hour northeast of Hong Kong by air. These facilities include a state of the art testing and quality assurance laboratory, extensive R & D department and fully equipped art department for packaging and collateral materials. The NorthPole textile facility completes the dyeing and finishing of over 60 million yards of materials annually.
NorthPole's dedicated Sales Force and Consumer Services staff support sales in the US and Canada, with additional services supporting sales in Europe, Japan, Australia and South Africa. NorthPole is the recipient of many awards over the years for noted retailers who have recognized the company's professionalism and performance on a continuing basis.
